Speakout is an online anonymous reporting tool: to disclose incidents of bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, discrimination, hate crime, coercive behaviour/control, stalking, assault, sexual harassment, sexual assault and rape.

The Department of Higher Education’s Consent Framework published in 2018 highlighted the need for all universities and colleges to take on responsibility for creating safe communities for all staff, students, and visitors. To assist in addressing this, the third-level sector have developed initiatives, such as the ‘Speak Out’ tool, to enable them to collect data to help in the implementation of policies as well as signposting students to the various support services available to them.

Speak Out was formally launched by Minister Simon Harris. Speak Out is an online and anonymous reporting platform for that students can use to report incidents of bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, discrimination, hate crime, coercive behaviour/control, stalking, assault, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape. See TU Dublin 'Speak Out'.

This tool will list relevant supports and highlight formal reporting procedures, both within TU Dublin and to external agencies such as TUSLA and An Garda Siochana, if a student wishes to do so.

Remember, Speak Out is anonymous and students can record any instance(s) of unwanted behaviour, verbal, online or in person. There is no way to identify or contact anyone who uses it within the University Community.
