Position Contested: College Officer BIMM & Aungier Street

Hi reader, thank-you in advance for taking your time to read my manifesto. Some things about me, if you wish to address me as “Remi” I would appreciate that, it is less intimidating to read. I did the one year CPD Diploma in 2016 in BIMM and progressed onto the BA for Commercial Modern Music the year after. I am running for the College Officer position for BIMM/Aungier Street.

My Mindset and Experience

I am passionate about the student experience, I was a class rep last year, I was liaising with the class reps in other years before my course rep meetings. I wanted to be more involved in the student experience, so I joined the student council. I took part in as much as I could. I was apart of the constitutional working group to represent BIMM, and it was there I put forward the idea of merging the college officer role for BIMM and Aungier street because they are physically close together. I would like to go for the role I helped mould.

My Aims

My aims are for both BIMM and Aungier Street. I wish to:

  • Push for more clarity and communication on the state of the college life so that students can know whether or not they have online or on-site classes ASAP when any changes are made.

  • I want to try and get a good compromise for final year students’ graduation by asking for student feedback on what minimums they would accept given the circumstances.

  • Get students better access to resources and facilities. Such as a better online library for students.

Why Am I Running?

I am a 4th year student, I want to be involved and help students before I leave, but I was also appalled that my colleagues’ graduation in the year ahead of me were handled poorly and I would personally like better treatment than what they received.
